Northmore Stud, which also incorporates the nearby Middle Stud,
is one of the few remaining private studs in Newmarket. The stud is owned by Sue and Peter Trivass who live on the premises. They acquired the stud in 1991 and over the years have expanded it to offer excellent facilities for both the breeding season and for sales preparation.
The Stud is spread over 120 acres with good paddocks that are sheltered from the elements. As well as the main paddocks, the Stud has 10 nursery paddocks, thus allowing young foals to be turned out without danger or, alternatively, they are used for resting Mares or horses that may be recuperating.
Weanlings and yearlings are run in separate groups of colts and fillies. They are turned out into large paddocks to aid their development but are checked every day.
We have our own high-class band of broodmares, including Kite Mark the dam of Kite Wood who won the Group 3 Geoffrey Freer Stakes and came close to winning the Doncaster St Leger and Best Side who is the dam of the Listed winner Azmeel.
We also have permanent boarders and in the season have a number of Mares visit that are owned by good clients in Britain and overseas. One of the special Mares to have boarded with us in 2008 as a maiden was 1000 Guineas winner Speciosa and then again in 2009 when she produced her first foal a colt by Oasis Dream.
With the professional approach that is taken the Stud has built up an outstanding reputation for getting Mares in foal at the optimum time.
